The Bill (Reg. No. 4537) extends the period of imprisonment envisaged by Clauses 205-309 of the Criminal Code for two-three years, supplementing sanctions of Part 3 of Clause 307 of the Criminal Code with such a type of criminal punishment as imprisonment for life.
The author of the Bill deems necessary to adopt it to establish adequate criminal responsibility for the committal of crimes related to smuggling, production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors.
The Committee members support the Bill, as its adoption will reduce the rate of crimes as to turnover of drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors, as well as prevent their committal.
